Milford, Conn. - The women's bowling team took home its first team title of the 2019-20 campaign, winning the Sacred Heart University Bowl for a Cure Invitational. The Lions went 4-1 on the afternoon, knocking down a total of 4,275 pins in team play for an average of 171.0. In addition, junior Christie Warmingham outlasted all bowlers in the singles bracket to take home the singles title.

How it Happened

• The maroon and white opened the tournament against host #11 Sacred Heart University. On the back of a 202-pin performance from sophomore Goldera Surles, the Lions defeated the Pioneers, 860-845.
• 204 pins from Warmingham put Molloy up 2-0 on the day with an 815-808 victory over #24 Long Island University. The junior continued to pace the squad with 196 pins in an 882-806 win over #8 Caldwell.
• The Lions trailed by 47 pins in the final frame against Bloomfield before senior Carly Licht tallied three strikes to give the maroon and white an 835-827 victory.
• In the final team match of the day, Molloy fell to #6 Adelphi, 904-883.
• Molloy improved to 10-5 on the season with the wins, including a total of six victories over nationally-ranked opponenets.
• Warmingham opened the singles bracket with a 188-151 victory over teammate Surles. The junior faced off against another Lion in senior Kayla Dobrinski in the second round, putting up a 230-pin performance to advance to the final four.
• After downing Tyler Karpinecz of LIU, 210-182, Warmingham advanced to the finals where she topped Hannah Mannetta of Adelphi, 212-188 to claim the title.
