Reading, Pa. - The women's bowling team returned to the lanes for the 2019-20 campaign this weekend at the Bud Whitman Memorial Tournament, hosted by Chestnut Hill College. The event, broken up into two one-day tournaments, saw the Lions go 6-4, earning three victories over nationally-ranked squads.
Day One - Baker
- The maroon and white placed fifth in the 14-team field for Baker play, totaling 4,725 pins for an average of 189.0.
- Molloy trailed in the third game against both Howard University and Felician University, but the team rallied for two victories (977-924 and 918-831).
- The Lions also defeated #10 Chestnut Hill College, 926-802 on the afternoon before falling to #20 Duquesne (1111-945) and #6 Adelphi (1000-959) to go 3-2 on the afternoon.
Day Two- Traditional
- Molloy went 3-2 in traditional play, finishing in sixth-place with an average of 183.0 and a total pinfall of 4,576.
- The afternoon opened with 200+ pin performances from senior Carly Licht and sophomore Goldera Surles to lead the team past Bloomfield College, 924-871.
- The team was downed by Wilmington, 990-938 despite consecutive performances of over 200 pins from both Licht and Surles.
- After falling to LIU, 927-826, 223 pins from junior Mackenzie Wagner and 219 from Licht helped guide the maroon and white to victory over #7 Kutztown, 953-938.
- The tournament ended on a positive note with a 935-825 victory over #8 Caldwell, including 219 pins from Surles.

Molloy will appear in the Sacred Heart University Bowl for a Cure Invitational next weekend (Oct. 19) in East Haven, Conn.
