Seaford, N.Y. – The field hockey team suffered its first loss of the 2018 season this afternoon, falling 3-1 to Lindenwood University at Cedar Creek Park.
 
How it Happened

• The visiting Lions got on the board first as Noor Fons buried a cross pass from Bridget Hoogendijk in the 21^st minute.
• Lindenwood doubled the lead in the 32^nd minute after Hoogendijk scored, unassisted, to end the first half of play.
• Following a penalty corner, redshirt senior Zoe Norton cut the lead in half, finding the back of the net on an assist from freshman Shaelin de Wit.
• Lindenwood regained a two-goal lead in the 54^th minute on a goal from Pauline Terwindt.
• The Lions drew a late penalty corner, but were unable to find the back of the net.

 
Top Performances

• Norton led the maroon and white, firing three shots, all of which were on target.
• Freshman Kyra Dalli added two shots, both of which were also on goal.
• Senior goalkeeper Tara Byrnes made six saves in the effort.

 
Looking Ahead
Molloy returns to action on Sunday (Sept. 9) against Bentley University. The game is set to begin at 1:30 p.m. at Cedar Creek Park.
