Old Westbury, N.Y. (May 2, 2018) – The fourth-seeded Molloy men's lacrosse team fell to the top-seeded NYIT Bears, 12-6 , Wednesday afternoon at President's Stadium. The Lions finished the season 9-7. Sophomore
Jeff Hauser led the maroon and white with two goals.
NYIT (12-4) scored first to take a 1-0 lead. The Lions knotted the score, 1-1, on a goal from Hauser. The Bears led 2-1 at the end of the first quarter.
The home team netted the first two goals of the second quarter to increase its lead to 4-1. Sophomore
Kevin Pastier found the back of the net to cut the lead to 4-2. NYIT tallied the final four goals of the half and led 8-2 at the break.
Sophomore
Gabe Garcia opened the third quarter with a goal to make it an 8-3 contest. The Bears extend their lead to 9-3. Sophomore
Brandon Leon and freshman
Nick Del Giorno shrunk the home team's advantage to 9-5 with back-to-back goals. NYIT led 10-5 after 45 minutes of play.
Hauser tallied his second goal of the game in the fourth quarter.
Senior
Ryan Toomey made 10 saves in the contest, and junior
Justin English tallied seven ground balls.
