Old Westbury, N.Y. (Mar. 31, 2018) – Six members of the softball team recorded RBIs in a sweep of New York Institute of Technology. The Lions now sit at 15-11 on the season and improve to 3-1 in East Coast Conference play.
Game One: Molloy 6, NYIT 4
Senior
Sarah Rambo gave the maroon and white a 1-0 lead after the first inning, scoring senior
Olivia Banulski on a single to center field. The Bears evened the score in the bottom of the fourth on a sacrifice fly.
The Lions plated five runs in the top of the sixth inning. Back-to-back singles from Banulski and freshman
Courtney Greene followed by a wild pitch set the table for a sacrifice fly from Rambo. Junior
Tara Byrnes scored the freshman on a fielder's choice before a sacrifice fly from senior
Brianna Dalton made it 4-1 in favor of the visitors. Senior
Alex Russo capped off the Molloy rally with a two-run home run.
The home team cut the lead in half in the bottom of the sixth on a ground out and single. Down to its final out in the bottom of the seventh, NYIT came within two runs, 6-4, before Greene forced a ground out to retire the side and earn her first collegiate save.
Junior
Jenna Turato tossed five innings, allowing only five hits while striking out two batters to improve to 8-5 on the season. Rambo and Russo each drove in two runs with Russo, Rambo, Greene, Banulski, senior

Game Two: Molloy 6, NYIT 1
Snyder drew a leadoff walk, advancing to third on a throwing error on a bunt from Banulski. On an attempted steal by Banulski, Snyder broke for home to score the game's first run. Three consecutive singles from Greene, Rambo, and senior
Chrissy Heyer set the table for a sacrifice fly from Mullane to give Molloy a 2-0 lead.
The Lions doubled the lead in the second inning on a double from Snyder and single from Banulski.
The home team got on the board in the bottom of the third inning on an RBI single.
In the top of the fifth, Dalton doubled to left, scoring Heyer before a sacrifice fly from Russo gave Molloy a 6-1 lead.
Greene pitched five innings to earn her third win of the season while freshman
Tonianne Larson struck out two through two innings of relief. Heyer went 3-for-4 for the Lions while Snyder, Banulski, Mullane, Dalton, and Russo all drove in runs.
Molloy steps out of league play on Monday (Apr. 2) as they face Dominican College at Bob Klein Field at 2:00 p.m.
