Uniondale, N.Y. (Mar. 18, 2018) – The Molloy baseball team scored six runs in the eighth inning on its way to a 9-8 win over the Le Moyne Dolphins Sunday afternoon at the Michel Field Athletic Complex. The Lions improved to 7-11 overall with the win. Senior
Angelo Navetta collected three hits and tallied four RBIs, and senior
Jack McCarty drove in three runs for the maroon and white.
Le Moyne (14-6) scored a run in the first to take an early 1-0 lead.
McCarty tied the game in the third with a sacrifice fly to right field, which scored freshman
Jake McCarthy.
The Dolphins scored two runs in the fourth and one run in the seventh to go up 4-1.
In the bottom of the seventh, Navetta drilled a two-run home run to center field to cut the lead to 4-3.
The road team scored three runs in the top of the eighth to extend its lead to 7-3.
Molloy plated six runs in the bottom of the eighth. McCarty started the scoring with a two-run double to left. McCarty later scored on a balk, which made it a 7-6 game. Senior
Elijah Leerdam hit an RBI double to center to knot the score. Navetta broke the tie with a two-RBI single to center field, which put the maroon and white ahead 9-7.
Freshman
Matt Overton recorded the final three outs of the contest to register his second save of the season.
The Lions host Concordia Tuesday, Mar. 20. The game is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
