Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The Molloy women's basketball team fell to the Jefferson Rams, 61-56, Saturday afternoon at Quealy Gymnasium. The Lions moved to 0-1. The Rams improved to 1-0.

How it Happened

• The teams went back and forth in the first quarter, and Jefferson ended the opening frame up 14-12.
• With the Rams ahead 23-18, the Lions ended the half on a 12-2 run, led by 10 points from graduate student Tyra Harrison, to go ahead 30-25.
• Junior Kathryn Gibson made a three-pointer to open the third quarter to put the Lions ahead 33-25. The Rams went on a 12-0 run to go up 37-33. Freshman Ellen Iversen hit a triple with 1:39 left to cut Jefferson's lead to 41-40. The visitors led 43-40 at the end of 30 minutes.
• Senior Ihnacinse Grady made a layup with 2:39 left to cut the away team's lead to 52-50, but that was as close as the maroon and white would get.

Top Performances

• Harrison netted a team-high 18 points, on 8-of-12 shooting.
• Sophomore Melody Prichard tallied 11 points.
• Sophomore Gabriella Aspuru scored eight points, while junior Jenna Silletti added seven points and five rebounds.

Coach's Comments

• "We played against one of the best teams in the region," head coach Joe Pellicane said. "Our team competed, which is the good news. We made too many errors against a team that isn't going to beat themselves. It was a game against a good team that will help us going further, if we make the proper adjustments."

Looking Ahead

• Molloy hosts Chestnut Hill tomorrow, November 11. Tip-off at Quealy Gymnasium is scheduled for noon.
