Women's Soccer and Queens Play to Scoreless Draw

Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The Molloy women's soccer team and the Queens College Knights played to a scoreless draw Wednesday afternoon at John A. Darcy Field. The Lions finished the season 6-9-2 overall and 3-5-1 in ECC play. The Knights are 2-9-4 overall and 1-5-3 in league play.

How it Happened
  • Queens outshot Molloy 9-6 in the opening frame.
  • The Lions, who outshot the Knights 13-1 in the second stanza, created chances to break the tie in the second half and overtime.
  • In the 85th minute, senior Dominique Capolongo and sophomore Dana Poetzsch had shots stops.
  • Sophomore Carly Fonseca chipped an opportunity wide in the 87th minute.
  • The Lions best chance of overtime came with under two minutes left in the first extra session. Poetzsch had a shot saved, Capolongo gathered the rebound and had her shot blocked, and junior Angela Careddu sent the loose ball over the net.

  • Poetzsch led the team with seven shots.
  • Capolongo tallied four shots.
