Rockville Centre, N.Y. (Jan. 3, 2017) – The Molloy women's basketball team was defeated by the LIU Post Pioneers, 72-52, Wednesday evening at Quealy Gymnasium. The Lions moved to 6-8 overall and 1-3 in ECC conference play with the loss. Freshman

Gabriella Aspuru tallied 11 points.

Marthe Guirand (eight points) tallied the first four points for the Lions to opened up a 4-3 advantage, but LIU Post quickly responded with an 8-0 run to take an 11-4 lead. The home team pulled within three, 11-8, on a layup from Guirand, but a turnover and a couple offensive rebounds helped give the away team build an 18-10 lead after the first.
In the second quarter, Prichard scored nine of the next 11 points for the maroon and white to cut the lead to three, 25-22. LIU Post went on a 9-2 run to take a ten point advantage, 34-24, before Freshman
Abigail Duvivier (five points)
banked in a three-pointer at the buzzer to cut the halftime deficit to seven, 34-27.
Prichard continued her hot play in the third with seven points, but the Pioneers outscored the Lions 21-12 to take a 16-point advantage into the fourth, 55-39.
The Lions pulled within 14 points of their rival, but it wasn't enough to stop the hot three-point shooting from the Pioneers.
Molloy returns to action Saturday, Jan. 6, when they travel to Old Westbury to face ECC-foe NYIT. Tip-off with the Bears is slated for 1:00 p.m.
