Field Hockey Falls to No. 7 Pace University, 5-0

Seaford, N.Y. (Sept. 30, 2017) – The Molloy field hockey team battled to a 5-0 loss against No. 7 Pace University earlier this morning at Cedar Creek Park. The Lions sit at 0-9 on the campaign while the Setters improve to 9-1.

The maroon and white held the Setters to just one goal through the first 35 minutes of play. Rachel Beam tapped in a cross from Lisette de Bruin to put Pace on the board in the 14th minute. Redshirt junior Zoe Norton (Sayville, N.Y.) and senior Jessica Waszczak (Northport, N.Y.) each fired shots for the Lions in the first frame of action, but Norton's was blocked before Waszczak's went just wide.

The Pace offense erupted in the second half, scoring four unanswered goals to set the score at 5-0.

Sophomore Amanda Mesas (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) made 10 saves in net for the Lions.

Tomorrow (Oct. 1), the team will celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Day prior to their match-up with Saint Thomas Aquinas College at 1:00 p.m. at Cedar Creek Park.
