SEAFORD, N.Y. (Sept. 17, 2017) – The Molloy field hockey team dropped a 7-0 decision to the No. 1 East Stroudsburg University at Cedar Creek Park this afternoon.
The Lions kept the top-ranked Warriors off the board through the first 28 minutes of play, but East Stroudsburg put up five goals in the final seven minutes of the opening frame.
In the second half, redshirt junior
Zoe Norton (Sayville, N.Y.) took Molloy's lone shot before East Stroudsburg rounded out the scoring with two final goals.
Senior
Kelly Saronka (Wantagh, N.Y.) made a defensive save early in the contest while senior goalkeeper
Tara Byrnes (Huntington, N.Y.) stopped 16 of the Warriors' 24 shots on goal.
The team returns to action on Sunday (Sept. 24) as they take on Mercyhurst University at 1:00 p.m. at Cedar Creek Park.
