Box Score WEST HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (Sept. 25, 2016) - Wins came at all six singles flights and each of three doubles tandems as the Molloy College women's tennis team claimed its first win of the season with a 9-0 romp over Albertus Magnus on Sunday (Sept. 25) at Hempstead Lake Indoor Tennis Complex.
Both
Alyssa Migliorini (North Haven, Conn.) and
Montaine Le Goupil-Maier (Oceanside, N.Y.) dropped just one game in the match day to their respective opponents. Migliorini was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at the top singles flight while Le Goupil-Maier won a 6-0, 6-1 match at No. 2 singles; the two then teamed to win an 8-0 top doubles match. Meanwhile,
Megan Scali (Garrison, N.Y.) played a hard-fought three-set match and came out with a 10-8 win in the final frame to grab the victory at the No. 3 spot as doubles partner
Danielle Bloecker (Oceanside, N.Y.) played a 10-2 pro-set victory at fourth singles. The two would later combine for an 8-1 win at second doubles. Lastly,
Samantha Bloecker (Oceanside, N.Y.) and
Emily Rosen (Little Neck, N.Y.) were successful in fifth and sixth singles as well as in third doubles, losing just two games combined between the two players. Claiming victory in an exhibition doubles match for Molloy was
Christie Catterson (Amityville, N.Y.) and
Tiffany Nagasawa (Lynbrook, N.Y.) to complete a full-fledged sweep for the maroon and white.
Molloy will not return to scheduled competition until Oct. 9 as the Lions face the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, Pa. The Lions, however, will take part in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's East Regional tournament beginning on Friday (Sept. 30).
