ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Jun. 17, 2016) - After a successful season under the club sport umbrella of the Molloy College Department of Athletics, the Molloy women's rugby team will now compete as an NCAA-sanctioned varsity sport in the fall of 2016.
The maroon and white posted a competitive fall 2015 campaign, winning six straight competitions on the way to the quarterfinals of the Tri-State Conference Championship where the Lions would fall to powerhouse Vassar College. In the spring season, Molloy brought home its first championship under the distinction of being a club sport by winning the Plate Championship at the Beast of the East Tournament in Rhode Island on Apr. 17. The Lions also appeared in the quarterfinals of the Tri-State Conference Sevens Championship the following weekend (Apr. 24), falling to the University of Albany.
Under the direction of Head Coach
