Game One: Holy Family 2, Molloy 1Junior Brianna Scotto (West Babylon, N.Y.) and freshman Samantha Klem (San Diego, Calif.) both hit solo home runs to left field off of Molloy starter
Chelsea Hawks (Wading River, N.Y.) to put Holy Family ahead by a 2-0 score. The Lions' offense was stunted by sophomore Koreen Orozco (Whittier, Calif.), who surrendered a seventh-inning run on a fielder's choice and only four base hits.
Milan Botte (Reston, Va.) had two of the Lions' hits while
Sarah Rambo (Eagleville, Pa.) had the lone RBI for the maroon and white in the loss.
Game Two: Holy Family 7, Molloy 1Klem had a big game for the Tigers in the latter half of the double-dip, driving in two runs in the first inning and one run in the third off of Lions right-hander
Jenna Turato (Garden City South, N.Y.). Red-shirt sophomore Amanda Paredes (Moorpark, Calif.), meanwhile, kept the maroon and white off-balance at the plate and flirted with perfection through five innings of play. Trailing 7-0 in the top of the sixth,
Ashley Fedor (Monroe, Conn.) reached on an error to break up the perfect game but the Lions were still hitless heading into the seventh. In the final frame, sophomore
Olivia Banulski (Bristol, Conn.) led off with an infield single to break up the no-hitter; Rambo would later drive her home with a double to cancel the shutout but Paredes still tossed a complete game and got the win.
Molloy will host ECC rival LIU Post on Tuesday (Apr. 19) at 3:30 p.m. at Bob Klein Field in Rockville Centre, N.Y.
