Katie O'Brien (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) added two goals as the Molloy College women's lacrosse team downed Queens College (N.Y.) on Saturday (Apr. 16) by a final score of 12-7 at John A. Darcy Field. With the win, the maroon and white took their ninth victory---equaling the team's win total from last spring---while bolstering the squad's ECC Tournament resume with a 4-1 record in conference competition. Meanwhile, the Knights fell to 5-7 overall and 0-5 in ECC play.
The Lions led 2-0 after five minutes as Markowitz and Wilson tallied goals just 51 seconds apart in the opening half of action. Queens got a goal back from Courtney Canavan (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) but Molloy tallied the next three markers as Wilson,
Meghan Orlando (Hicksville, N.Y.) and
Cooper Sesselman (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) each scored in the run to get the Lions' lead up to four goals midway through the stanza. Molloy held a 6-3 edge going into the halftime break before opening up the second half with four unanswered goals in a span of 12-plus minutes of play. Wilson and Markowitz both got their hat tricks in the final frame of competition while O'Brien went back-to-back to put Molloy up 10-3 with 18:45 remaining in the game. Senior
