Softball Hosts Bridgeport Saturday, Plays At Holy Family Sunday

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Apr. 15, 2016) - The Molloy College softball team will look to bounce back from a doubleheader setback on Thursday (Apr. 14) at No. 22 LIU Post that sent the Lions to a 14-6 record in East Coast Conference play. In third place by five games in the loss column as of Friday, the Lions will first face an ECC foe in Bridgeport on Saturday (Apr. 16) and then travel to Philadelphia to face Holy Family in a regional but non-conference competition on Sunday (Apr. 17).

About the Lions
- Molloy is 25-15 overall on the season with positive records at home (12-2) and on the road (9-5) in 2016.
- Senior Tracey Balinskas (Edison, N.J.) leads the maroon and white with a .435 batting average and 14 doubles to go along with seven home runs and 33 runs batted in. Meanwhile, sophomore shortstop Brianna Dalton (Northampton, Pa.) leads the team with 35 runs batted in on the season. 
- Junior pitcher Chelsea Hawks (Wading River, N.Y.) is 12-8 on the season with a 2.78 earned-run average and 120 strikeouts in 120 innings pitched for the Lions. Hawks has tossed 13 complete games this season. Meanwhile, Balinskas has a 7-5 record with an ERA of 4.64.
- Saturday's doubleheader will honor the class of 2016 as the Lions will celebrate Senior Day with a pregame ceremony. Festivities will recognize Balinskas along with Samantha Sauer (Plainview, N.Y.) and Milan Botte (Reston, Va.).

Concerning the Opponents
- Bridgeport is 13-22 with a two-game winning streak and a 6-12 record in East Coast Conference competition. The Purple Knights won the first game of a doubleheader with Goldey-Beacom by a score of 9-7 on Friday (Apr. 15).
- The last time Molloy and Bridgeport played a doubleheader was back on Mar. 30 at Seaside Park in Connecticut. UB won the first game by a 4-3 score in 10 innings while the Lions took game two by a 12-2 score.
- Holy Family, meanwhile, has a Saturday doubleheader with conference foe Bloomfield; the Tigers will enter the contest with the Bears on a 15-15 overall record and a 9-7 record in CACC competition.
