Box Score BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Mar. 28, 2016) - Looking for an unprecedented four-game sweep of LIU Post on Monday (Mar. 28), the Molloy College baseball team fell short in its quest to win its first four conference games of the year; the Pioneers came away with a 9-0 win at LIU Post Baseball Field in Brookville.
The Pioneers tacked an early run on in the first inning as David Groeneveld (Centereach, N.Y.) squibbed an RBI single up the middle off of Molloy starter
Seth Noreman (Old Bethpage, N.Y.). Groeneveld factored into LIU Post's next two runs as well, tripling home Joe Spitaleri (Levittown, N.Y.) in the third inning and then scoring on a throwing error. Molloy had no answer for Pioneers starter Brian Kavanagh (East Meadow, N.Y.) as the freshman tossed a complete-game three-hitter with three strikeouts. LIU Post tacked on three runs in both the seventh and eighth innings to provide the final margin.
The maroon and white will look to rebound on Tuesday (Mar. 29) with a single-game contest versus Bloomfield College at Mitchel Field. The Lions already own a 9-1 victory over the Bears back on Mar. 11, a game played in Florida between the two schools. Tuesday's contest is set for a 3:30 p.m. start time.
