BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Mar. 23, 2016) - The Molloy College women's lacrosse team had its four-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday (Mar. 23) by the fourth-ranked LIU Post Pioneers in a 16-6 decision at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium in Brookville.

Molloy (6-3, 2-1 ECC) fell behind by four goals early in the contest before midfielders Cooper Sesselman (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) and Brianna Wilson (Levittown, N.Y.) scored back-to-back markers to cut the LIU Post (6-1, 2-0 ECC) lead in half; the Pioneers led 4-2 with 12 minutes to play in the first half. The maroon and white tried to creep even closer to the hosts, but LIU Post scored five straight goals to take a 9-2 edge before sophomore attacker Jessica Markowitz (Baldwin, N.Y.) stopped the run with the last goal of the first half. Down by six goals to start the second frame, senior attacker Kim Pepe (Levittown, N.Y.) converted on a free-position attempt to get the Lions on the board in the first sixty seconds of the last stanza of play. Again, though, LIU Post's offensive prowess proved to be too much as the Pio's scored seven of the last nine goals with Wilson and Alexa Watson (North Massapequa, N.Y.) tallying goals to briefly halt the green and gold's progress in the win for the home side.

Wilson led the way with two goals for the Lions while graduate attacker Meghan Orlando (Hicksville, N.Y.) had two assists. Four players collected a team-high two ground balls and there was a four-way tie in the draw control statistic, as each of those players had two draws won. In net, red-shirt junior Caroline Winters (Baldwin, N.Y.) made 12 saves in the effort.

The Lions will now head south to Wilmington, Del. to face the Wildcats of Wilmington University on Saturday (Mar. 26) at 1 p.m.
