Softball Takes On Saint Thomas Aquinas on Tuesday in Westchester County

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Mar. 21, 2016) - The Molloy College softball team has been riding high with six straight wins over the previous week, including the squad's first two victories in East Coast Conference play in convincing fashion. The Lions can continue their roll on Tuesday (Mar. 22) when the team travels to Sparkill, N.Y. for a doubleheader with Saint Thomas Aquinas beginning at 2:30 p.m.

About the Lions
-Molloy is 11-9 on the year so far after a weekend sweep of Philadelphia University and Queens College. 
-The two wins over Queens College give Molloy a 2-0 record in ECC play to start the conference slate. 
-Tracey Balinskas (Edison, N.J.) is still pacing the Lions with a .410 batting average on the year. She leads the team in home runs (3) and doubles (8). The senior is tied for the team lead in hits (25) and RBI's (15). 
-Milan Botte (Reston, Va.) is tied with Balinskas for the team lead in hits (25) and RBI's (15). She boasts a .397 batting average which is second on the team. 
- Molloy's .291 team batting average ranks them second in the ECC behind NYIT. The Lions lead the league in both RBIs (71) and hits (156). 
-Freshman Jenna Turato (Garden City South, N.Y.) has been sensational in the circle so far this year, allowing just 4 earned runs in 24.1 innings pitched. Junior Chelsea Hawks (Wading River, N.Y.) has struck out 57 batters in 54 innings of work. 
About the Spartans
-St. Thomas Aquinas is 5-8 so far on the season. They split a home doubleheader with Dominican (N.Y.) last week. 
-The series with Molloy will begin ECC play for the Spartans. 
-Brittany Malloy (New Windsor, N.Y.) leads the squad with a .345 batting average in 29 at-bats. The sophomore is second on the team with 10 hits. 
-The Spartans as a whole have struggled offensively with a team batting average of .216, ranking them sixth in the ECC. 
-Two freshman pitchers for the Spartans have led the way so far. Colleen Borum (Mountain Top, Pa.) has a 2.21 ERA in 25.1 Innings pitched. Briana Keaveney (New City, N.Y.) is right behind her with a 2.44 ERA in 28.2 innings of work and 18 strikeouts.
