Women's Lacrosse Goes For Third Win In A Row At Caldwell On Tuesday

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Mar. 14, 2016) - The Molloy College women's lacrosse team enjoyed its recent four-game homestand by winning three of those contests, including the team's East Coast Conference opener versus Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday (Mar. 12). Now, the Lions will hit the road for a journey that will wind through five states and the District of Columbia over six games and a three-week span of time. The adventure begins on Tuesday (Mar. 15) when the maroon and white head to New Jersey to face off with third-year program Caldwell University.

About the Lions
- Molloy is 4-2 on the season after wins over Roberts Wesleyan and Holy Family over the weekend. The Lions last started a season with a 4-2 record back in 2011, as the squad went on to win 11 of 16 games in that year.
- Freshman midfielder Brianna Wilson (Levittown, N.Y.) was named East Coast Conference Player of the Week on Monday (Mar. 14) after scoring 11 points (6G, 5A) in the two-game weekend stint with the maroon and white. Wilson also won 13 draw controls, utilizing her athleticism and height to snatch the ball away on restarts and draws. The freshman middie is tied with junior Cooper Sesselman (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) with 21 points to share the team lead in points scored.
- Graduate attacker Meghan Orlando (Hicksville, N.Y.) also has 21 points with a team-high 15 assists, which is also tied for the conference lead. Orlando's 15 helpers puts her in eighth among all Division II players in terms of the number of assists.
- Red-shirt junior goalie Caroline Winters (Baldwin, N.Y.) ranks inside the top-10 in the country in saves (69) and save percentage (.556). Winters is 4-2 this season with a 10.00 goals-against average.

Concerning the Cougars
- In just the third season in program history, Caldwell has started the year off 0-2 with losses to Bridgeport and Pace most recently. The Cougars have scored just six goals and allowed 32 through two contests.
- Sophomore midfielder Emily Fey (Center Moriches, N.Y.) led Caldwell last year with 22 goals and 25 points; so far this season Fey is the only player on the team with two goals. No member of the squad has an assist thus far.
- Caldwell is being led by first-year head coach Casey Denk, who was previously an assistant women's lacrosse coach with Rochester Institute of Technology. Denk was a four-year player for the Duquesne women's lacrosse team and won the Atlantic-10 Conference Rookie of the Year Award in 2010 with the Dukes.

The Intangibles
- Gametime Temperature and Weather: Overcast skies with temperatures in the mid-50s. Staying cloudy with little threat of rain and wind throughout the contest.
- Series History: Molloy leads Caldwell 1-0 in the series, with the teams last playing back on Apr. 2, 2015 in Rockville Centre. The Lions won an 18-8 game against the Cougars, with Sesselman scoring four goals and adding an assist. Midfielders Katie O'Brien (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) and Laura Rice (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) each had a hat trick.
