ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Mar. 1, 2016) - Two wins and a No. 14 overall ranking have the Molloy College men's lacrosse team rolling into a midweek match-up versus Georgian Court on Wednesday (Mar. 2). The Lions will be facing a first-year program in Mickey Hover's Lions, but it is not a game that the nationally-ranked maroon and white can afford to take lightly.
About The Molloy Lions- Molloy is 2-0 to start the season after wins over Assumption and Wheeling Jesuit in the last two Saturdays of February. Most recently, the Lions took down the Cardinals in a 13-11 contest at John A. Darcy Field on Feb. 27.
- Senior midfielder
Peter Clark (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) led the maroon and white with five goals in the win, and he was later named to the East Coast Conference's Weekly Honor Roll after his performance. Clark holds the team lead with seven goals so far this season while senior attacker
Kevin Teresky (South Huntington, N.Y.) has the team's points lead with nine (5G, 4A).
- Molloy's defense has been stout thus far, causing 22 turnovers while committing only 33. Opponents have been having a difficult time with the Lions, surrendering the ball 44 times overall and only managing to cause 17 giveaways.
- Sophomore goalie
Ryan Toomey (Hicksville, N.Y.) has had a so-so start to his 2016 campaign. His 2-0 record comes with an 11.5 goals-against average and a save percentage of just 41%.
Now For The Georgian Court Lions- This will be only the second home game for Georgian Court and the third game overall for the Lions in the history of the men's lacrosse program. GCU comes off of a 17-5 loss to thirteenth-ranked Mercy College on Tuesday (Feb. 23) in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.
- Freshman midfielder Joseph Ramirez (Monmouth Junction, N.Y.) scored two goals against the Mavericks and has a team-high three markers this season. Junior middie Michael Negrete (Magnolia, Del.) has two goals for the Lions thus far.
- Freshman netminder Logan Eisenhart (Mt. Airy, Md.) is yielding 13.06 goals per game but has a save percentage of .510, a full tenth of a point higher than that of Molloy's goalie Toomey.
