ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Feb. 19, 2016) - Baseball time is here again. The Molloy College baseball team will begin play on Saturday (Feb. 20) in a three-game set with Pfeiffer University down in Misenheimer, N.C. Here are some notes and facts about both teams to get Lions fans ready for the beginning of play on the diamond.
About The Lions-Molloy is coming in off a 22-23 performance last year, with a 10-14 record in ECC play.
- 22 of the 26 players from last season's squad are returning.
-Kevin Podell (Wantagh, N.Y.) will look to start the season off similar to how he finished last year. The junior led the team with a .325 batting average. He also drove in 22 runs.
- Three other players from last year's squad that batted over .300 return for a team that had a total batting average of .291.
Concerning Pfeiffer's Falcons
-Pfeiffer University started its season back in late January. They are 1-6 overall.
-The Falcons are in the midst of a five game losing streak. Their only win came on January 30th against Mars Hill.
- A bright spot has been sophomore outfielder Jordan Eckard (Catfish, N.C.), who is batting .400 through his first 25 at-bats. He also has five RBI's.
-As a team the Falcons are hitting just .236. They have a team ERA of 4.37.
