Cross Country Wraps Up Year With NCAA Regional Appearance

HOPKINTON, N.H. (Nov. 5, 2016) - The Molloy College cross country programs officially concluded the 2016 fall season with an appearance in the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships on Saturday (Nov. 5) at the Hopkinton Fairgrounds in New Hampshire. The men's team finished in 18th-place out of a total of 23 teams while the women's team placed 26th out of 28 schools at the meet.

On the men's side, sophomore Brian Michels (Patchogue, N.Y.) was the highest finishing Lion runner as he placed in 57th of 169 individual runners. Michels---the 2015 ECC Rookie of the Year and an All-East Coast Conference Second-Team runner this season---posted a time of 33:51.9 with a five minute and twenty-even second mile pace. Meanwhile in the women's race, freshman Emily Martino (Franklin Square, N.Y.) capped off her rookie campaign by placing 110th in a time of 25:04.4, with a mile pace of 6:43.5.

The Molloy College cross country programs are done for the year, but the Lions will be off and running soon as the 2016-17 Indoor Track and Field season begins shortly. Continue to follow www.MolloyLions.com for all the latest information and updates.
