Women's Tennis Blanked in 9-0 Decision Against Daemen Friday

Box Score WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 21, 2016) - A game effort in doubles competition could not help the Molloy College women's tennis team to a win in conference play as the Lions lost a 9-0 decision to Daemen College on Friday (Oct. 21). The game was scheduled for a 1 p.m. start initially but was pushed back to 7 p.m. and moved to the Miller Tennis Center in Williamsville due to inclement weather conditions in the Western New York area.

The top doubles tandem of Alyssa Migliorini (North Haven, Conn.) and Montaine Le Goupil-Maier (Oceanside, N.Y.) was bested in an 8-4 contest by seniors Hayle Scanlan (Indianapolis, Ind.) and Karli Hollins (Orchard Park, N.Y.). Meanwhile, a spirited effort from Megan Scali (Garrison, N.Y.) and Danielle Bloecker (Oceanside, N.Y.) fell short in a 9-7 loss against Shaylah Iverson (Canandaigua, N.Y.) and Gretchen Ringler (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) at second doubles. The third doubles tandem of Samantha Bloecker (Oceanside, N.Y.) and Christie Catterson (Amityville, N.Y.) did not fare better with an 8-3 loss to Delaney Fragale (Lockport, N.Y.) and Jessica Robins (North Tonawanda, N.Y.).

The Lions were dropped in singles play as well with Migliorini falling to Hollins by a 4-6, 6-7 (6-8) decision. Molloy never got close in any of the other matches, with Tiffany Nagasawa (Lynbrook, N.Y.) playing a competitive sixth-singles contest versus Morgan Park (Hamburg, N.Y.); Park won the contest by a 6-3, 6-4 decision.

Molloy closes out the fall campaign on Saturday (Oct. 22) versus Roberts Wesleyan College.
