Arianna Ovadia (East Meadow, N.Y.), the Molloy field hockey team fell 4-0 to Franklin Pierce University on Sunday (Oct. 2).
The Ravens controlled most of the tempo, keeping Molloy in the defensive zone for much of the contest. The graduate netminder was able to keep the Ravens scoreless until Sarah Bjorn (Holden, Mass.) was able to fire a shot into the back of the net at the 14:54 mark. Scoring opportunities continued for the Ravens, who held a 16-2 advantage in penalty corners, but were contained, thanks to 13 saves from Ovadia, and one defensive save by
Christina Carbone (East Meadow, N.Y.). Carly Canavan (Kingston, N.Y.) would score twice, first off a rebounded shot with just under eight minutes remaining in the opening frame before shooting one in the bottom left corner to open the second half to put the Ravens up 3-0. The final goal would come from Danielle Harris (Templeton, Mass.) off a rebound in the 68
th minute.

Melissa Fuerst (Selden, N.Y.),
Angela Burth (Massapequa, N.Y.) and
Jessica Waszcak (Northport, N.Y.) all registered shots in the effort. Freshman
Amanda Mesas (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) would record a save in relief. Molloy falls to 1-6 with the loss, while Franklin Pierce moves to 3-7 on the season.
The Lions will return to action on Tuesday (Oct. 4) as they take on the Mavericks of Mercy College at Bay Park in East Rockaway, N.Y. at 7:00 p.m.
