Field Hockey Falls to Lindenwood 4-0

Box Score ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Oct. 15, 2016) - The Molloy field hockey team faced a tough Lindenwood University team on Saturday (Oct. 15). The Lions of Lindenwood were quick out of the gate when Karlie Quinn (Huntingtown, Md.) fired the first shot of the game. The offense would continue to surge for Lindenwood, and Chloe Bell (Campbell, Calif.) sent the ball past graduate netminder Arianna Ovadia (East Meadow, N.Y.) to put Lindenwood up 1-0.

Although the Lions of Lindenwood would continue pressuring Molloy offensively, the defense of maroon and white kept them at bay. Sophomore Ellyn Byrnes (Huntington, N.Y.) made two critical defensive saves on shots from Savannah Motley (Louisville, Ky.) and Victoria Buysschaert (Antwerp, Belgium) to keep the differential at one. Lindenwood would not rest, firing 17 additional shots before Tara Robben (St. Louis, Mo.) was able to score on a feed from Buysschasert in the 26th minute of play.

Lindenwood continued their shooting in the second half, finishing with a total of 45 on the effort, 22 of which were on net. Goals from Jessie Londono (Merrimack, N.H.) and Megan Martin (St. Louis, Mo.) would round out the four goals for the Lindenwood Lions.  Ovadia would mound an impressive performance in net, making 15 saves on the effort. Molloy's lone shot of the day came from freshman Lauren Keller (Westbury, N.Y.).

With the win, Lindenwood improves to 9-3 on the season, while Molloy falls to 1-8. The Molloy Lions are back in action Sunday (Oct. 16) as they host Bellarmine University at Cedar Creek Park in Seaford, N.Y. at 12:00 p.m.
