Box Score BROOKHAVEN, N.Y. (May 3, 2015) - On Sunday afternoon, the Molloy College baseball team closed out its 2015 season with a 24-3 loss to Dowling College. With the win, the Golden Lions finish the regular season at 27-13 (15-9 East Coast Conference), while Molloy finalizes its season ledger at 22-23 (10-14 ECC).
Molloy had an early 2-0 lead in this one as in the first inning senior
John Galanoudis (Farmingdale, N.Y.) drove home junior
Deilyn Guzman (East Hampton, N.Y.) with an RBI single. In the second, freshman
Jack McCarty (Huntington, N.Y.) brought in sophomore
Brian Murphy (Elmont, N.Y.) with an RBI single to put Molloy ahead, 2-0.
The lead was short-lived and was the final advantage of the game for Molloy as Dowling's offense struck for 24 runs in the ensuing seven innings. The Lions scored their final run of the game in the top of the ninth when junior
Michael Rahn (Sayville, N.Y.) recorded a sacrifice fly, bringing in sophomore
Anthony Galanoudis (Farmingdale, N.Y.).
IN CONCLUSION: The Lions saw some terrific seasons out of multiple players this year...On the pitching staff, junior
Shea Spitzbarth (Staten Island, N.Y.) finished with a 4-1 record and a 1.77 ERA, while senior
Alex Brosnan (Farmingdale, N.Y.) went 5-1 with a 2.48 ERA...Offensively, Molloy had five batters hit over .300, including sophomore
Kevin Podell's (Wantagh, N.Y.) .325...J. Galanoudis wrapped up his great Molloy career with a .318 batting average, two homers and 29 RBIs -- the latter two led the team.
