(Apr. 9, 2015) – At Bob Klein Field in Rockville Centre, N.Y. on Thursday afternoon, the Molloy College softball squad fell in a pair of East Coast Conference games to LIU Post, 5-2 and 2-1. With the losses, the Lions are now 12-19 overall and 7-4 in the league, while the Pioneers improve to 15-6 (11-0 ECC).

Brianna Dalton (Northampton, Pa.) kicked off the contest's scoring with a solo homer in the bottom of the second. It was her team-leading fourth of the season. Two Paige Swantek homers and one Melissa Peet homer later gave the Pioneers a 4-1 lead following the top of the fifth frame. Molloy took one of those runs back when sophomore

Tracey Balinskas (Edison, N.J.) with an RBI single. LIU Post scored its final run of the game in the seventh off a sacrifice fly by Peet.

Chelsea Hawks (Wading River, N.Y.) fell to 6-7 as she surrendered five runs in seven innings. She struck out five batters.
Game 2: LIU Post 2, Molloy 1The Pioneers plated its two runs of the ballgame in the first and third innings when Catherine Havens scored via a passed ball and Aly Dzierzynski hit a solo homer to left centerfield. The fourth inning saw the Lions take one of those runs back as freshman
Alexandra Russo (Coram, N.Y.) crushed her third dinger of the year. Molloy loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh, but wasn't able to get the elusive tying run home and fell, 2-1.
In the circle, Balinskas went all seven innings, faring very well versus a potent LIU Post offense. She allowed two runs (one earned) on just three hits. Balinskas whiffed six batters.
