#9 Men's Lacrosse Tops Post University, 13-10

Box Score ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Apr. 8, 2015) - The #9 Molloy College men's lacrosse team defeated the Post University Eagles, 13-10, this evening at the Dean G. Skelos Sports Complex in Rockville Centre, N.Y.  With the win, the Lions improve to 7-2 overall, while the Eagles fall to 4-7 on the campaign.

In the first period, the Eagles scored the game's first goal from Alsharif Blackman just 16 seconds into the contest. The Lions answered by rattling off six straight goals. The first came from junior Tom Graef (New Hyde Park, N.Y.), while sophomore Connor Slane (North Babylon, N.Y.) added four tallies. The final goal of that burst was netted by senior Joe Leonard (Hicksville, N.Y.), which gave the Lions a 6-1 lead. The Eagles scored a goal off the stick of Chris Lommer to make it 6-2 before two more Lions goals by senior Tom Engelhardt (Bethpage, N.Y.) and junior Kevin Teresky (South Huntington, N.Y.) changed the scoreboard to read, 8-2. 

Post recorded another pair of goals to trim its deficit to 8-4. However, the Lions continued to match any goals scored by the Eagles as Leonard found the back of the cage for his second of the game along with a marker from senior Tom Turner (East Rockaway, N.Y.). In the third period, Leonard found the hat trick, scoring his third of the evening to give the Lions a 10-4 lead. However, in that third quarter, the Eagles outscored Molloy, 5-3, as Post cut its deficit to just two goals on two separate occasions. The Eagles made it a 12-10 game early in the fourth before Leonard's fifth and final goal secured Molloy's 13-10 triumph. 

In net for the Lions, freshman goalie Ryan Toomey (Hicksville, N.Y.) made 13 saves.

Leonard finished with five goals and two assists, while Slane netted four goals on the night. Engelhardt recorded one goal and three assists.

Head Coach Eric Petrullo and the Lions return to action on Saturday, April 11 when they travel to Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. to take on Mercy College beginning at 1 p.m.
