Box Score BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Apr. 30, 2015) – On Thursday afternoon, the Molloy College women's lacrosse squad saw its season come to a bitter end as #10 LIU Post defeated the Lions in its East Coast Conference Semifinal playoff game, 18-5, at Bethpage Stadium in Brookville, N.Y. With the win, the Pioneers are now 14-4 overall, while following the loss, the Lions slip to 9-7.
LIU Post opened the scoring of this afternoon's game with three unanswered goals before Molloy witnessed sophomore
Cooper Sesselman (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) score her 45th marker of the year. A few minutes later, down 4-1, the Lions received two goals from freshman
Jessica Markowitz (Baldwin, N.Y.) and senior
Casey Naab (Floral Park, N.Y.) to cut their team's deficit to 4-3.
Over the final eight minutes of the first half and the opening 15 minutes of the second period, the Pioneers reeled off 12 straight goals to take a 16-3 advantage. Although Molloy scored twice more, that 12-0 run proved to be too much to come back from and LIU Post eventually sealed the 18-5 victory. Those final two goals on the Molloy side were netted by Sesselman and junior
Katie O'Brien (Oyster Bay, N.Y.).
In the cage, Molloy senior
Laura Vetter (Great River, N.Y.) made nine saves.
