Box Score ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Apr. 24, 2015) – On Friday afternoon, the Molloy College softball team dropped an East Coast Conference contest to Queens College, 9-1, at Bob Klein Field in Rockville Centre, N.Y. With the victory, the Knights improved to 28-14 (20-4 ECC), while the Lions fell to 22-24 (17-9 ECC).
The Knights' first two runs came way of solo homers by Cat Pastor and Kylie Spillett. Spillett then recorded a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning, before Monique Roberge smacked a three-run homer to put Queens ahead, 6-0. Molloy took one of those runs back in the bottom of the fifth when senior
Victoria Gunnels (North Bellmore, N.Y.) reached on a fielding error by the Knights' shortstop, allowing sophomore
Ashley Fedor (Monroe, Conn.) to score. Queens scored three additional runs to secure the win after six innings due to the run-rule.
In the circle, sophomore
Chelsea Hawks (Wading River, N.Y.) pitched four innings, giving up three runs on five hits. Juniors
Tracey Balinskas (Edison, N.J.) and
Samantha Sauer (Plainview, N.Y.) each hurled an inning, surrendering three runs.
