(Apr. 22, 2015) – On Wednesday afternoon, amidst the chaotic weather and rainstorm, the Molloy College softball team was able to get one game of its East Coast Conference doubleheader in versus Queens College at Bob Klein Field in Rockville Centre, N.Y. The Knights took today's contest by the final score of 9-4. Game 2 was postponed until Friday, April 24 with the start time yet to be announced.
A pair of Queens solo homers put the Knights ahead 2-0 after the top of the first inning. Senior
Victoria Gunnels (North Bellmore, N.Y.) sliced that lead in half with a solo shot of her own in the bottom of the second. Also in that inning, freshman
Alexandra Russo (Coram, N.Y.) gave Molloy a 3-2 advantage with a two-run single. Freshman
Brianna Dalton (Northampton, Pa.) and sophomore
Erin Clinton (Long Beach, Calif.) scored on the play.
The Knights scored five runs between the fifth and the sixth innings to take a 7-2 lead. The game was temporarily suspended in the bottom of the sixth when lightning and heavy rainfall made its way to Bob Klein Field. Following the rain delay, freshman

Queens tacked on two more runs in the seventh inning with its fourth and fifth homers of the day.
In the circle, Balinskas fell to 11-9 on the year, surrendering seven runs in six innings.
