#11 Men's Lacrosse Cruises Past AIC, 22-10

Box Score ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Apr. 22, 2015) - The #11 Molloy College men's lacrosse team finished up non-confernece play by defeating American International College this evening, 22-10. With the win, the Lions improve to 10-3 overall, while the Yellow jackets fall to 2-12.

In the first quarter, the Lions went on a four-goal run to start the game beginning with a marker from senior Joe Leonard (Hicksville, N.Y.) to make it 1-0. The Lions received contributions in the run from senior Tom Engelhardt (Behtpage, N.Y.), junior Tom Graef (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) and sophomore Jon Camposa (Syosset, N.Y.). The Yellow Jackets then jumped on the board with a goal from Eric Overdahl to make it 4-1. The Lions answered that by scoring off the sticks of junior Austin Valenti (Baldwin, N.Y.) and sophomore Connor Slane (North Babylon, N.Y.) to make it 6-1. Between the end of the second quarter and beginning of the third the Lions rattled off seven straight goals to take a commanding 13-2 lead. The Lions witnessed junior Kevin Teresky (South Huntington, N.Y.) and senior Tom Turner (East Rockaway, N.Y.), while Leonard scored three times. In the third period, the Yellow Jackets reeled off three straight goals to make it 13-5, but the Lions answered right back scoring three more goals. In the fourth quarter, the Lions and Yellow Jackets traded tallies, but Molloy eventually secured the 22-10 victory.

For the game, the Lions were led by Leonard, who had four goals and two assists, while Engelhardt had three goals and three assists. Junior Peter Clark (Rockville Centre, N.Y.), Graef and Camposa added hat tricks for the Lions. In net, junior Brendan Schade (Holbrook, N.Y.) made two saves for the Lions over his 45 minutes played. Freshman Ryan Toomey (HIcksville, N.Y.) manned the cage for the first quarter and its 15 minutes.

Head Coach Eric Petrullo and the Lions return to action on Saturday, April 25 when they host Dowling College at 3p.m. on Senior Day. The winner of this content will earn the fourth playoff spot in the East Coast Conference Championship Tournament.
