(Apr. 18, 2015) – On Saturday afternoon, the Molloy College baseball team earned two crucial East Coast Conference victories in thrilling and exhilarating fashion as both were late, come-from-behind wins. With today's triumphs, the Lions are now 19-15 overall and 7-8 in the ECC, while the Knights fell to 7-18 (3-12 ECC).
Game 1: Molloy 4, Queens 3Queens led 2-0 from the second inning through the seventh when the Knights picked up an insurance run to make it 3-0 in their favor. In the bottom of the seventh, senior
Kyle Van Duyne (Sayville, N.Y.) put Molloy on the scoreboard with a sacrifice fly, plating fellow senior
John Galanoudis (Farmingdale, N.Y.). In the bottom half of the eighth, Galanoudis reached via an error, allowing sophomore
Anthony Alberghina (Staten Island, N.Y.) to score and cut Molloy's deficit to 3-2. One batter later, junior
Michael Rahn (Sayville, N.Y.) singled through the left side, bringing in two runs, giving the Lions a 4-3 lead. Freshmen
Angelo Navetta (Staten Island, N.Y.) and
Jack McCarty (Huntington, N.Y.) scored on the base knock.

Game 2: Molloy 9, Queens 8In Game 2, Molloy led 4-0 after three innings, however, the Knights battled back and eventually took an 8-5 advantage in the top of the sixth frame. In the bottom of the seventh with just three outs looming until a loss, the Lions showed grit and determination. Sophomore
Kevin Podell (Wantagh, N.Y.) started the comeback with a single to right field. Following the Queens' right fielder committing an error trying to field the ball, Navetta scored from first base. Navetta had reached via a hit-by-pitch.
Following a Queens pitching change, Rahn doubled in Podell to cut Molloy's deficit to 8-7. The next two batters were sophomore
Brian Murphy (Elmont, N.Y.) and Van Duyne, who were hit by a pitch and recorded an infield single, respectively. Then, on a 3-2 pitch, sophomore
Austin Nieves (Glendale, N.Y.) smacked the ball through the right field, finding a hole to score Murphy and McCarty. Nieves' clutch walk-off hit gave Molloy a 9-8 win.
Junior reliever
Deilyn Guzman (East Hampton, N.Y.) recorded the win with 1.1 innings pitched. He surrendered three runs, although all three were unearned.
