Box Score UNIONDALE, N.Y. (Apr. 15, 2015) – On Wednesday, the Molloy College baseball team picked up a 14-7 triumph over non-conference opponent Felician College at Mitchel Field in Uniondale, N.Y. With the win, the Lions bettered their ledger to 16-15, while the Golden Falcons fell to 13-22 overall.
The Lions' offense was out in full force today, scoring in each of the first seven innings. The contest was a see-saw affair witnessing five lead changes. Molloy took a 2-0 lead in the first when sophomore
Anthony Alberghina (Staten Island, N.Y.) singled home junior
Deilyn Guzman (East Hampton, N.Y.), and rookie
Angelo Navetta (Staten Island, N.Y.) drove in Alberghina with a sacrifice fly. Junior
Kyle Van Duyne (Sayville, N.Y.) scored on a wild pitch in the second to give Molloy a 3-0 advantage.
Felician grabbed two of those runs back in the top of the third, before Molloy tacked on another run in the bottom half. Sophomore
Austin Nieves (Glendale, N.Y.) walked with the bases loaded to force home junior
Michael Rahn (Sayville, N.Y.). Answering again, the Golden Falcons added a run on a solo shot by J.R. Meneses.
In the fourth and fifth, Molloy plated three runs with a pair of RBI singles from senior
John Galanoudis (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and a bases-loaded hit by pitch from Van Duyne. However, the Golden Falcons tied the game on two occasions, continuing to battle.
The Lions posted their big inning in the sixth when they took the lead for good with four runs. Nieves and Galanoudis had bases-loaded walks, Guzman recorded a sacrifice fly, and Navetta notched an RBI single. Three more runs in the seventh gave Molloy a 14-7 lead, which was the final score.
Sophomore
Brian Murphy (Elmont, N.Y.) and Galanoudis each had three hits, while Nieves had four RBIs and Galanoudis drove in three. On the hill, freshman
Joseph Nastasi (South Salem, N.Y.) earned the win in relief.
