(Apr. 12, 2015) - On Saturday afternoon, the Molloy College baseball team split a doubleheader with the University of Bridgeport, winning the first game, 5-2, and falling in the second game, 7-2. With the split, the Lions are now 15-14 overall (4-7 East Coast Conference), while the Purple Knights are now 13-18 overall and 9-6 in the league.

Kyle Van Duyne (Sayville, N.Y.) giving Molloy a 1-0 lead. That lead would be short-lived as in the fourth, the Purple Knights scored two runs to give Bridgeport a 2-1 lead. Alex Brosnan (Farmingdale, N.Y.) went all nine innings for the complete game. He surrendered just two runs and struck out six.
Game 2: Bridgeport 7, Molloy 2In the second game, the Lions and Purple Knights put up matching zeroes until the fourth inning when Bridgeport scored via a home run from Tim Bickford. Then, Dylan Steigerwald's sacrifice fly gave Bridgeport a 3-0 lead. The Lions responded in the sixth inning with an RBI groundout from sophomore
Kevin Podell (Wantagh, N.Y.) and a wild pitch that scored freshman
Angelo Navetta (Staten Island, N.Y.), which would cut the Lions deficit to 3-2. However, in the seventh the Purple Knights plated four runs to take the 7-2 victory.
