(Apr. 10, 2015) – On Friday, the Molloy College baseball team fell to the University of Bridgeport, 6-5, to open up its East Coast Conference series with the Purple Knights. With the win, Bridgeport is now 12-17 (8-5 ECC), while the Lions slipped to 14-13 on the year and 3-6 in the conference.

Angelo Navetta (Staten Island, N.Y.) in the second, and brought home sophomore
Kevin Podell (Wantagh, N.Y.) with a sacrifice fly in the fourth.
Bridgeport scored three times in the fourth and fifth to go ahead, 5-2. Molloy once again tied the game in the sixth and then ninth inning. In the sixth frame, sophomore
Ronald Bauer (Hicksville, N.Y.) singled home Podell and sophomore
Brian Murphy (Elmont, N.Y.). In the ninth, Podell recorded an RBI single as sophomore
Anthony Alberghina (Staten Island, N.Y.) came home.
In the bottom of the ninth, the Purple Knights scored the game-winning run via an RBI single.
Junior starter
Shea Spitzbarth (Staten Island, N.Y.) went eight innings and gave up five runs (three earned) on eight hits. He struck out 10. Sophomore reliever
Sean Gordon (Levittown, N.Y.) was strapped with the loss as he surrendered an unearned run in 1/3 of an inning.
