Leonard had the second quarter's first goal, receiving a feed from senior Sal Geneva (Hicksville, N.Y.). Following the intermission, the Lions reeled off four straight goals. Valenti, Leonard and Clark recorded their second goals of the game, while junior Kevin Teresky (South Huntington, N.Y.) netted his first. The Griffins scored another man-up tally at the 2:53 mark to cut the Lions' lead to 10-5. In the fourth quarter, Chestnut Hill scored three consecutive goals to put pressure on Molloy and trim the Lions' lead to 10-8. In the two minutes after the Griffins' third goal in the last period, Molloy found the back of the cage twice. Geneva scored both times to complete his hat trick. The two squads traded goals before the end of the game, which witnessed the Lions win, 13-9.

For Molloy, Geneva finished with three goals and one assist, while Leonard had two markers and three helpers. Engelhardt, Valenti and Clark all scored two goals. In the cage for the Lions, rookie goalie Ryan Toomey (Hicksville, N.Y.) continued the excellent start to his freshman campaign with eight saves.
