Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Mar. 29, 2015) - On Sunday, the East Coast Conference softball doubleheader between Molloy College and the New York Institute of Technology resulted in a split with Game 1 going to Molloy (7-6) and Game 2 going the way of the Bears (4-1). With today's action, the Lions are now 9-13 overall and 5-1 in the ECC, while the Bears are now 7-13 (1-5 ECC).

Game 1: Molloy 7, NYIT 6
Following NYIT scoring the game's first run in the second inning, Molloy took the lead in the next inning when freshman Olivia Banulski (Bristol, Conn.) smacked a two-run double plating sophomore Ashley Fedor (Monroe, Conn.) and rookie Alexandra Russo (Coram, N.Y.). NYIT then scored three times in the fourth inning to take a 4-2 advantage. One frame later, the Lions scored four runs to take a 6-4 lead. Junior Tracey Balinskas (Edison, N.J.) reached via a fielding error, allowing Banulski and Fedor to score, and freshman Bernadette Mullane (Bellmore, N.Y.) singled to center, plating Balinskas and senior Brenda Lee (Corona, Calif.).

With the game tied 6-6 in the top of the seventh, Lee put Molloy out in front with a go-ahead solo homer to left field.

NUMBER 300: With today's win in Game 1, Head Coach Susan Cassidy-Lyke earned the 300th win of her career.

Game 2: NYIT 4, Molloy 1
All four of NYIT's runs came in the fifth inning via a single, double and sacrifice fly against Balinskas. Balinskas went 4.2 innings, giving up all four runs, but only one was earned. She whiffed five batters.

Molloy scored its lone run of Game 2 in the sixth inning when senior Brianne Catalano (Franklin Square, N.Y.) came home via a wild pitch. Catalano reached base via the team's only hit in Game 2 -- a triple.

Head Coach Susan Cassidy-Lyke and the Lions return to the field on Tuesday, March 31 to face league-opponent Mercy College beginning at 2:30 p.m.
