Box Score UNIONDALE, N.Y. (Mar. 27, 2015) - On Friday afternoon, the Molloy College baseball team surrendered two runs in the eighth and ninth innings falling to East Coast Conference-foe LIU Post, 2-1 at Mitchel Field. With the win, the Pioneers improved to 6-5 overall and 4-1 in the league, while Molloy fell to 8-10 (2-3 ECC).
Molloy scored its only run of the ballgame in the first inning when an LIU Post fielding error enabled junior shortstop
Deilyn Guzman (East Hampton, N.Y.) to score. Freshman outfielder
Anthony Alberghina (Staten Island, N.Y.) grounded out to shortstop, and while this was happening Guzman tried to take third base on the throw from the aforementioned shortstop. The Pioneers' first baseman threw the ball away trying to nab the runner and Guzman came around to put the Lions ahead, 1-0.
LIU Post scored in the eighth inning via an RBI single, and in the ninth via a wild pitch.
Junior starter
Shea Spitzbarth (Staten Island, N.Y.) was terrific, going seven innings, giving up no runs on five hits. He whiffed 10 batters.
