Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. (Mar. 17, 2015) - On Tuesday afternoon, the No. 10 Molloy College men's lacrosse team bested Assumption College by the final score of 9-5 in Worcester, Mass. at Multi-Sport Stadium. With the win, the Lions improved to 4-1 overall, while the Greyhounds fell to 2-4 on the season.
Molloy scored the first goals of the game when junior
Tom Graef (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) found the back of the cage at 9:31 in the first quarter. Senior attack
Joe Leonard (Hicksville, N.Y.) followed that up with his own goal 24 seconds later. The Greyhounds halved their deifict with 5:17 left in the period when Ty Martina scored.
Following Assumption's game-tying goal to start the second quarter, the Lions netted five consecutive goals. Freshman
T.J. Kilmetis (Hicksville, N.Y.) started the burst off, followed by junior
Tom Turner (East Rockaway, N.Y.), junior
Peter Clark (Rockville Centre, N.Y.), sophomore
Jon Camposa (Syosset, N.Y.) and sophomore
Connor Slane (North Babylon, N.Y.). At halftime, Molloy had built a 7-2 advantage.
Following the intermission, Molloy's Slane and Assumption's Garrett Smith exchanged goals as the scoreboard turned to 8-3 in favor of the Lions.
In the fourth quarter, the Greyhounds scored goals at the 14:22 and 10:52 marks, before junior
Tom Engelhardt (Bethpage, N.Y.) cranked the ball past the Assumption goalie at 9:19 remaining. That would be the contest's final goal as the Lions earned the non-conference 9-5 victory.
