Box Score BOCA RATON, Fla. (Mar. 15, 2015) - On Sunday, the Molloy College baseball team earned an easy victory over Caldwell University, 15-5 at the Lynn University Invitational in Boca Raton, Fla. With the win, the Lions improved to 4-6 overall, while the Cougars fell to 1-2 on the season.
Molloy scored in each of the first seven innings of the game, amassing 15 runs. In the first frame, graduate student
John Galanoudis (Farmingdale, N.Y.) reached base via an error, allowing sophomore
Kevin Podell (Wantagh, N.Y.) and junior
Michael Rahn (Sayville, N.Y.) to touch home plate. In the second inning, sophomore
Ronald Bauer (Hicksville, N.Y.) scored on a wild pitch, sophomore
Anthony Alberghina (Staten Island, N.Y.) tripled in freshman
Jack McCarty (Huntington, N.Y.), and Podell notched a sacrifice fly enabling the Lions to take a 5-2 lead.
Molloy scored four runs in the fourth, one in each of the fifth and sixth frames, and finally, two in the seventh to take a commanding 15-5 lead, which they never relinquished.
For the game, Alberghina went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, while Bauer went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored. Sophomore
Brian Murphy (Elmont, N.Y.) finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs.
On the mound, Bauer earned the win, hurling six innings. He surrendered six runs (four earned) on four hits. Junior
