(Mar. 14, 2015) - On the second day of its Florida Spring Training trip, the Molloy College baseball team defeated the University of New Haven in Game 1, 8-6, before falling to Palm Beach Atlantic University, 12-9. After today's action, the Lions are now 3-6 overall.
Game 1: Molloy 8, New Haven 6In the first game, the Lions trailed the Chargers 2-0 after the first inning, but they rallied in the next inning to take the lead. Sophomore

Deilyn Guzman (East Hampton, N.Y. recorded RBI singles, while another run scored on a fielder's choice from sophomore
Brian Murphy (Elmont, N.Y.). In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Lions tacked on two more runs via an Alberghina triple and a
Kevin Podell (Wantagh, N.Y.) RBI single.
The Chargers continued to claw back and eventually tied the game at 5-5 following T.J. Riccio reaching via an error, which scored Robert Petrillo Jr. Molloy grabbed the lead back for good in the bottom of the fifth following an RBI single by Murphy and an RBI double by Guzman. The Chargers took one of those runs back in the top of seventh on an RBI single from Riccio. However, the Lions held on for the 8-6 victory.

Bobby Kelly (Mineola, N.Y.) earned the win. Guzman went 4-for-5 with three RBIs.
Game 2: Palm Beach Atlantic 12, Molloy 9In the second game, the Lions fell to the Sailfish, 12-9. The scoring for the Sailfish started in the bottom of the third when they scored six runs to grab the contest's first lead.
After the fifth inning of play, the Lions trailed the Sailfish, 10-0. Molloy continued to fight and plated three runs in the top of the sixth frame to cut its deficit to 10-3. Sophomore
Ryan Dillon (Medford, N.Y.) put the Lions on the board with a single driving in fellow sophomore

Michael Rahn (Sayville, N.Y.). Molloy added another three runs in the sixth and eighth innings, and then four runs in the ninth. In the ninth, the scoring started with an Austin Nieves (Glendale, N.Y.) bases-loaded walk to score Alberghina. Dillon drove in another run after a single to right field scored junior
Nick Pedraita (Glen Cove, N.Y.) cutting Molloy's deficit to 12-6. Junior
Nicholas Gonchar (Staten Island, N.Y.) recorded a two-run single to further the Lions' offensive attack, but they would come up short.
