Women's Lacrosse Bested by Assumption, 17-10

Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. (Mar. 1, 2015) - On Sunday, the Molloy College women's lacrosse team fell at the hands of Assumption College, 17-10, at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass. The win puts the Greyhounds at 1-0 overall, while the loss drops the Lions to 1-2 on the season.

Senior attack Casey Naab (Floral Park, N.Y.) picked up right where she left off in Florida as she netted the game's first goal. Just 70 seconds into the contest, Naab found the back of the cage unassisted to put Molloy ahead, 1-0. Freshman Jessica Markowitz (Baldwin, N.Y.) added to Molloy's lead just a minute and a half later when she took a feed from sophomore midfielder Cooper Sesselman (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) and fired one past Assumption's goalie Jaclyn Chirco.

Assumption and Molloy traded a goal apiece over the next six minutes, before the Greyhounds reeled off four straight to take a 5-3 lead. Two goals from Molloy and two goals from Assumption over the final 11 minutes of the period brought the game to halftime. Junior midfielder Katie O'Brien (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) and sophomore attacker Alexa Watson (North Massapequa, N.Y.) scored for the Lions.

Following the intermission, Naab recorded her second tally of the game when she scored 105 seconds into the second half. Molloy would receive another goal each from Markowitz, Sesselman and O'Brien before senior midfielder Meghan Orlando (Hicksville, N.Y.) joined the scoring. However, it wasn't enough for the Lions as the Greyhounds scored the game's final three goals and won, 17-10.

In the cage for Molloy, senior Laura Vetter (Great River, N.Y.) made eight saves.

Head Coach Tom Campolettano and the Lions return to the field on Saturday, March 7 when they play at Holy Family University in Philadelphia, Pa.  The opening draw control is slated for 12 p.m.
