ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Feb. 6, 2015) - Max Schonfeld (East Meadow, N.Y.), who was a standout starting pitcher for the Molloy College baseball team from 2011-14, has signed a professional contract with the Gateway Grizzlies of the Frontier League. The Grizzlies play their home games in GCS Ballpark in Sauget, Illinois.
Schonfeld capped off his Molloy career in brilliant fashion as he was named to the All-East Coast Conference Second Team, selected as a
Jewish Sports Review 2014 College Baseball All-American, and is the owner of the Lions' program career earned run average record (2.19).
Schonfeld put forth a magnificent campaign last year, going 6-3 with a 1.61 ERA. Within the ECC, his six wins were tied for fourth-best, while his ERA was third-best. He hurled 83.2 innings, which ranked third in the league, and he struck out 42 hitters.
