Box Score BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (Feb. 26, 2015) - This evening, the Molloy College women's basketball team lost to the University of Bridgeport, 76-67. The loss drops the Lions to 11-15 overall and 7-12 in East Coast Conference action. The Purple Knights improve to 6-21 overall and 4-15 in conference contests.
In the first half, the Lions earned a 40-36 advantage over the Purple Knights, with the help of senior guard/forward Nicole Arnone (Staten Island, N.Y.). In the first half alone, Arnone poured in 20 points as she popped in nine of her 12 field goal attempts, including 3-for-4 from downtown.Â
Throughout the opening 20 minutes of the game, the Lions led by as many as 12 points before the Purple Knights cut their deficit to four. The Lions shot an astonishing 60.7% from the field tin that first stanza -- compared to Bridgeport's 35.0%.
Following the intermission, the contest played fairly tight showcasing four ties and six lead changes. The Purple Knights took over the game eventually by converting on their free thwos down the stretch.
Arnone finished up with 31 points and 10 rebounds giving her a double-double. Those 31 points are a career-high for Arnone. The Staten Island product scored 46% of her team's points tonight (31 of 67). Junior guard Alexia O'Connor (Centerport, N.Y.) netted 12 points. Â
The Purple Knights were paced in points by Tiara Aziz's 21.
