Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. (Feb. 14, 2015) - The Molloy College women's basketball team fell to the University of the District of Columbia this afternoon, 79-61. The loss drops the Lions to 10-12 overall and 6-9 in East Coast Conference action, while the Firebirds improved to 21-3 overall and 14-2 in league play.
Drawing the Firebirds today was a tall order for the Lions and most any other team in the conference. At halftime, UDC was doubling up Molloy by the score of 40-20.
In the second half, the Lions fought back as they've done so many times this season. The closest Molloy came to the Firebirds in the second period was 18 points, while UDC's highwater mark was 28. The Firebirds proved to be too much for the Lions as they put the game away and earned the win.
For the contest, the Lions were led by junior forward
Ally Leftridge (Melville, N.Y.), who poured in 21 points (6-12 from the field). Off the bench, sophomore guard
Maggie Salomone (Narrangansett, R.I.) contributed 10 points. Senior guard/forward
Nicole Arnone (Staten Island, N.Y.) chipped in 10 points as well.
