Box Score ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Jan. 8, 2015) - The Molloy College women's basketball team fell to the University of the District of Columbia tonight by a final score of 71-60. The loss drops the Lions to 5-7 overall and 1-4 in East Coast Conference play. The win improved the Firebirds' record to 11-2 overall (4-1 in the ECC).
At halftime, the Lions would trail the Firebirds by 10 at 35-25. Leading the way for the Lions in the first half was junior
Ally Leftridge (Melville, N.Y.), who had eight points (3-6 shooting from the field).
In the second period, the Firebirds would prove to be too much for the Lions extending their lead to 20 points at the 7:24 mark in the second half. The Lions never clipped their deficit under double digits as the Firebirds had control over the entire game. The only time the Lions held a lead was 13 seconds into the start of the game.
Overall, the Lions were guided by junior guard/forward
Kimani Jackson Dix Hills, N.Y.), who came off the bench for 17 points (6-11 from the field). Leftridge finished with 10 points on 4-7 shooting.
The Firebirds were paced by Denikka Brent's 22 points (9-14 shooting) and senior guard Telisha Turner's 21 points.
