Box Score ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Jan. 22, 2015) - The Molloy College women's basketball team beat the University of Bridgeport tonight by the final score of 79-65 to earn their first win of the 2015 calendar year and pick up an important East Coast Conference triumph. The win improves the Lions to 6-10 overall and 2-7 in ECC play, while the Purple Knights fall to 2-15 and 0-9 in the league.
In the first half, the Lions led the Purple Knights throughout -- culminating with a halftime score of 45-32. The Lions were led offensively by senior guard/forward
Nicole Arnone's (Staten Island, N.Y.) 12 points (6-9 shooting) and her six rebounds. Off the bench, sophomore guard
Maggie Salomone (Narragansett, R.I.) continued her recent stellar play by contributing nine points, including going 2-2 from three-point range.
In the second stanza, the Lions continued to build upon and increase their lead on the back of Arnone. The Staten Island product finished the contest with 18 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists, two blocks and a steal -- a clinic for her strong her all-around game can be. The Lions also had double-digit contributions from senior guard
Sabrina Padro (Bronx, N.Y.), who earned the start today and recorded 15 points (9-12 from the free throw line), junior forward
Ally Leftridge (Melville, N.Y.), who finished with 11 points, and Salomone, who ended up with 10 points.
The Purple Knights were paced by Tiara Aziz and her 26 points (7-22 shooting), as well as her 12 rebounds.
