Box Score NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. (Sep. 7, 2014) - On Sunday, the Molloy College women's soccer squad played its second game of the Marriott Kickoff Classic at Merrimack College in North Andover, Mass. Playing against the host school Merrimack, the Lions fell by a final score of 4-2. With the loss, Molloy is now 0-2, while Merrimack improved to 2-0 overall.
Molloy scored its first goal of the 2014 campaign in the fifth minute of the contest when junior
Alicia Mercurio (Williston Park, N.Y.) found the back of the netting off a feed from rookie
Kristen Cummings (Huntington Station, N.Y.). Three minutes later, the Warriors found the equalizer when Sarah Boucher scored. The game would head to halftime even at 1-1.
Three minutes into the second stanza, Boucher struck again for her second tally of the contest to put Merrimack ahead, 2-1. On both of Boucher's goals, Jenna Savi was to credit for the assist.
In the 53rd minute, another Warriors' marker put Merrimack in front, 3-1. Sophomore
Danielle Valente (South Setauket, N.Y.) cut Molloy's deficit in half when she scored off a free kick. However, just 38 seconds later, the Warriors scored again to regain a two-goal advantage, which ended up being the final score (4-2).
In net, rookie
Paige Salmon (West Hempstead, N.Y.) made seven saves for Molloy, while Merrimack netminder Meghan Gulbrandsen stopped eight shots.

Danny Longo and his women's squad returns to action on Wednesday, Sep. 10 when the Lions play at Stonehill College in North Easton, Mass. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
